Dr. Bader worked in the field of chemistry and was recognized as a quantum chemist and theoretical chemist. A quantum chemist is a person who is an expert at chemistry who studies the relation of the quantum theory and quantum mechanics to make up molecules in chemistry. A theoretical chemist is a person that helps come up with an explanation to chemistry's unsolved problems based on physics.
While studying theoretical chemistry at Cambridge, Bader discovered the importance of electron density
explaining the behavior of atoms in molecules. During the course
of 10-20 years Bader developed his own quantum theory of atoms in molecules;
also known as (QTAIM). His theory extended the theories of quantum
mechanics to molecular structures, and showed how it was possible to predict
their properties from constituent atoms.
